The Tragedy of King Lear (The Fool) |
|
This is the American Globe Theatre’s Tenth Anniversary Season. American Globe is a not-for-profit organization that has staged many classical and Shakespearean plays. John Basil the Artistic director has staged this piece.
I really found this a delightful experience. Lear had a great company with a really good feel. The Fool is such a challenging role. He comes, comments and goes. Very little is said about his character and yet there is a rich energy written into the text. The New York Times was a little dismissive recently about the fool and yet I find him a full and vibrant part of the play, being able to take the heat from Lear’s otherwise selfish persona.
We got a grudgingly good review in BackStage, where I was categorized as a notable performance. There was a pretty good picture in there too. |
